Wilkinson.

I started dwmedia in 2014 with a camera and a laptop, while I was still at school. Twelve years on it does main stage festival broadcasts, and I've built four more businesses and a pile of tools around it.

Started at sixteen.
Still building.

I founded dwmedia in 2014 while I was still at school, with a camera, a laptop and no real idea what I was doing. I went full time in 2019. It now works with production teams, event organisers and venues across the UK on live streaming and IMAG, from main stage festival broadcasts to outdoor sites with nothing usable for miles.

Everything since has come out of that one business. As demand for funeral streaming grew, we set it up as its own brand under dwmedia in 2024: Funeral Streaming North East. In 2026 the connectivity side became Proper Northern and the web work I was doing for event clients became Site in Seven.

More of my time now goes into the business side, which is where it needs to be, though I still get behind a vision mixing desk when I can. Alongside that I've been Head of Digital for Christmas for All since 2022, a North East campaign making sure no child wakes up on Christmas Day without a present, and I'm a director of the CIC that runs it.

Since starting dwmedia I've worked on shows including Reggae Land, Chase and Status at Milton Keynes Bowl, Bludfest, and Paul Smith's Pablo tour in 2024 and Happy tour in 2026, which has taken me into pretty much every arena in the UK. Clients include the National Trust, the NHS, British Airways, Northern Pride, Willow Burn Hospice and local councils.

Before that.

Heliguy Digital Marketing Executive Jun 2017 — Nov 2019 · North Shields

Two and a half years in Heliguy's marketing team, leading and supporting digital and social campaigns across multiple platforms. I helped grow and manage the YouTube presence, contributing to a 508% increase in channel growth over one year alongside the rest of the team. The role also meant working closely with international clients and smaller drone businesses, supporting their growth and helping them scale their operations and fleets. Content, marketing strategy and real client work in a fast-moving tech and aviation environment.

Leading Link Social Media Assistant · Contract Oct 2015 — Jun 2017 · Bedlington

A part-time contract supporting Leading Link’s social media and digital presence: planning and scheduling content across platforms, creating photo and video for online use, and supporting content strategy and campaign planning. I regularly captured behind-the-scenes and day-to-day business content, keeping the online presence and brand tone consistent. An early grounding in content creation, audience engagement and how digital media supports wider business goals.

05

Barn Owl Studios ↗

Corporate and brand films, event coverage and behind the scenes content. Based in Northumberland, working wherever the job is.

Things I've built.

I build tools when I get tired of doing something manually. Most stay internal. Some are worth sharing.

venuecheck.co.uk ↗

Free venue recce tool for outdoor events. Weather, Starlink line of sight, RF interference, mobile signal, airspace restrictions, parking and access, all from a UK postcode. Everything I used to have five browser tabs open for.

Behind that there's a stack of internal tooling: booking and availability systems, a WiFi monitoring app, dashboards, custom code running on top of Current RMS, and our own apps for touring rigs and event management. It's the reason five businesses fit in one week.

How I run it.

Turn up prepared.Everything planned before the day. On show day we don't need managing, which is what most clients actually want.

Bring your own failure points.Own connectivity, own backup, own power assumptions. Never depend on something you can't fix at 6am.

Productise instead of quoting.Fixed scope and fixed price wherever the work allows it. Quoting is what kills small service businesses.

Automate the middle.Intake, delivery and admin get tooled up until the business only needs me for the parts that need judgement.

Get in touch.

Happy to hear from event partners, suppliers, press and anyone running something similar. If you're after production or connectivity for a specific event, dwmedia is the better door.
